Scholarship Program

The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Omicron Sigma chapter offers the Kendall Beck Scholarship to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Dallas, Collin, Denton, or Tarrant County with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale. The candidate must be applying to a college with a fall matriculation date.


The scholarship applicants will be reviewed and selected by the Kendall Beck Scholarship committee based on a total rubric score. The rubric score includes point denominations for completing the biographical information in full, extracurricular involvement, and strength of applicant personal essay and letters of recommendation. The rubric is included with the application packet.


All scholarships are a one-time award in the amount of $1,000.00 which will be sent directly to the recipient, unless otherwise noted by the recipient.



Eligibility Criteria

A.    High School graduating senior

B.     Minimum GPA of a 3.0 on 4.0 scale

C.     Must be a resident of Dallas, Collin, Denton or Tarrant counties

D.    Must be applying to a college with a fall matriculation date


Deadline for Submission

All entries must be postmarked no later than April 1 of each year.

C.     3 X 5 head-shot photo

D.    One-page essay response (Prompt included at end of packet)

E.     Three letters of recommendation; at least one personal (parent, guardian, relative or friend) and at least one professional source (school principal, department head, guidance counselor, etc.)

F.      Signed media waiver to use image for Phi Beta Sigma press releases and stories
